Our Byakugan Breach Checker tool uses the HaveIBeenPwned API to check if a password has appeared in a known data breach.

We use the k-Anonymity model — only the first 5 characters of a SHA-1 hash of your password are sent to the API. Your actual password is never transmitted. HaveIBeenPwned's use of this data is governed by their own Privacy Policy.
