How to Use the QR Code Generator

  1. Type or paste your content — a website link, plain text, email address, phone number, SMS, or WiFi network details.
  2. Pick a type button (URL, Email, WiFi and so on) if you want the right format applied automatically, or use a Quick Preset as a starting template.
  3. Choose a size — from 200px for documents up to 600px for posters — and customise the foreground and background colours if you like.
  4. The QR code updates as you type. Scan it with your phone camera to test it before using it anywhere.
  5. Click Download PNG to save a sharp, high-resolution image ready for print or web.

About This Tool

A QR code is simply text encoded as a grid of black and white squares that any phone camera can read. When you generate one here, whatever you typed — a link, a WiFi password, a phone number — is translated into that grid according to a public standard. Point a camera at it and the phone decodes the squares back into your text and acts on it: opening the link, joining the network, or dialling the number.

QR codes generated this way are static, which comes with a guarantee worth understanding: the content is baked into the image itself, permanently. The code never expires, never stops working, and does not depend on this website existing. Print it on a menu, a business card, a poster, or a wedding invitation and it will scan identically in twenty years.

This generator runs completely in your browser. The text you encode is never sent anywhere — which matters more than people realise, since QR content often includes private things like WiFi passwords or personal contact details. Many "free QR generator" sites route your content through their servers and some even replace your link with a tracking redirect that can be disabled later. Here, what you type is what gets encoded, directly on your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do QR codes made here expire or stop working?

Never. These are static QR codes — your content is encoded directly into the image, with no dependence on any server. As long as the printed or displayed code is intact, it will scan. The only thing that can "break" is the destination itself, for example if a website you linked to goes offline.

How do I make a QR code for my WiFi network?

Click the WiFi type button or preset and fill in the pattern WIFI:T:WPA;S:YourNetworkName;P:YourPassword;; with your own network name and password. Guests then scan the code and their phone offers to join the network automatically — no typing, and no reading your password aloud.

Is it safe to put my WiFi password or contact details into this generator?

Yes. Everything you type stays in your browser — the QR code is generated on your own device and nothing is transmitted to us or anyone else. That makes this safer than QR services that process your content server-side.

What size and colours should I use for printing?

For print, use the largest size (600px) so the code stays sharp, and keep strong contrast between foreground and background — dark squares on a light background scan most reliably. As a rule of thumb, a printed QR code should be at least 2×2 cm for close-range scanning, and bigger if people will scan from a distance.

How much text can a QR code hold?

Up to about 2,000 characters, but less is better: the more data you encode, the denser and harder to scan the grid becomes. For anything long, encode a short link to the content instead of the content itself.
